Challenge
In 2018, Microsoft aspired to elevate its concept of time- and location-independent work (The New Way of Working) to the next level. The new concept assigned a greater role to the building as a meeting place, one that should optimally serve as a space that facilitates Microsoft employees and visitors during their stay. However, in practice, there were numerous disparate systems and processes in the chain that communicated poorly with each other, hindering a seamless and integrated experience. Additionally, in 2018, Microsoft opened its Microsoft Technology Center (MTC), a place where key customers can explore the latest technological innovations. The MTC focuses on innovating, inspiring, and co-creating with customers, requiring an end-to-end customer experience that optimally contributes to their engagement.
Solution
Microsoft chose Omnimap to shape the "Visitor Experience." The goal was to facilitate employees as effectively as possible and enable them to work efficiently during their workday. For visitors, the objective was to create a welcoming reception where they feel at ease and are fully taken care of to focus on their meeting at Microsoft.

This experience begins before the visitor arrives at the office, and visitors retain full control over their own data, ensuring privacy and security. Microsoft continues to comply with European GDPR privacy regulations, which are crucial in handling personal data.
Additionally, the integration results in direct financial benefits. Microsoft employees no longer need to declare expenses at the office, as expenditures within the building are directly reconciled with their cost center. This eliminates the need for the financial department's intervention, and various services such as hospitality, catering, and other facility-related matters can collaborate more efficiently without manual processes.
